Early in the morning the mosque calls for Muslims to pray. The song flows through the morning air; whilst shepherds, butchers and farmers all start to congregate in the centre of the old city of Damascus.?Flocks of sheep are gathered, ready to be weighed and sold. Others can be bought and delivered to a home, where the sacrifice then takes place.?The majority of people sacrifice the animal on the street, and distribute much of the meat to poorer families.?It's positive to see that such an ancient ritual can still be performed today.
